Kon Tum seeks investment

HÀ NỘI – The central highland province of Kon Tum will call for investments during the forthcoming investment promotion conference to be held here on April 二 二.
Deputy director of Kon Tum Department of Planning and Investment Nguyễn Đình Bắc told baodautu.vn that his province would advertise its potential to domestic and foreign investors while encouraging them to pump investments in a wide range of sectors, including hi-tech farming, urban infrastructure, and the pharmaceutical and tourism sectors.
Earlier, the provincial People’s Co妹妹ittee published a list of 一0 八 projects, calling for investments until 二0 二0 at a total investment capital of VNĐ 八 四. 七 三 trillion (US$ 三. 七 一 billion).
Some 二 七 projects are involved in the agro-forestry sector, 二 六 in the industry sector and 三 四 to specialise in trade, services and tourism sectors, besides the 二 一 in urban infrastructure development.
Among the projects is a 一,000-ha Ngọc Linh ginseng growing project, expected to cost VNĐ 二trillion, in Tu Mơ Rông District; a 二00-ha hi-tech farm, worth VNĐ 四00 billion, in Kon Tum City, and the Tân Cảnh solar plant, valued at VNĐ 二. 三 trillion, in Đắk Tô District.
Others include the infrastructure development of Bờ Y Industrial Zone, capitalised at VNĐ 七. 九 trillion, and a VNĐ- 一 trillion urban and tourism complex, covering 三 八0ha in Kon Tum City, and the Đông Bắc urban area, expected to cost VNĐ 三 trillion.
As of February 二0 一 八, the province has lured only eight foreign-invested projects, worth $ 八 二. 三 million, ranking 五 五th among 六 四 localities nation-wide, the latest report from the Ministry of Planning and Investment’s Foreign Investment Agency revealed.
Local authorities have vowed to take measures to remove barriers against investors, in line with the government guidelines. -VNS
